Your file never leaves your device. This tool does the work inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded to us or to anyone else — and it works even with your Wi-Fi switched off.

Split PDF takes one document and produces several. Useful when a single scan holds three separate invoices, when a report needs to go out as individual chapters, or when a file is simply too big to send in one piece.

Three ways to split

By page range gives you the most control: list "1-3, 4-6, 7-12" and you get three files. Every page produces one file per page, which is what you want when a stack of separate documents was scanned in one go. Equal chunks divides the document into fixed-size pieces, useful when a file limit rather than the content is what is forcing the split.

Page ranges explained

Use a dash for a range and a comma to separate. "1-3" is pages one to three. "5" is page five alone. "10-" runs from page ten to the end. Each comma-separated group becomes a separate output file, so "1-3, 7" gives you two files, not one file containing four pages — use Extract PDF Pages if that is what you wanted.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Split and Extract?

Split produces several files. Extract produces one file containing the pages you chose. If you want pages 2, 5 and 9 together in a single document, use Extract PDF Pages.

Can I split a 500-page document into single pages?

Yes, up to 200 output files per job. Beyond that, split it into chunks first.

Do the split files keep their quality?

Yes. Pages are copied, not re-rendered, so nothing is lost.
