Remove Image Metadata runs on our file-processing service, which is still being set up. Rather than have you upload a file we know we cannot process, we have turned the upload off.
These work right now
They run entirely in your browser, so nothing is uploaded at all.
Every photo your phone takes records more than the picture: the camera, the settings, the exact time, and usually the GPS coordinates of where you were standing. This removes all of it.
Why this is worth doing
People routinely post photographs taken at home — a pet, a new sofa, a parcel that arrived — with the coordinates of their front door embedded in the file. Some platforms strip this automatically. Many do not, and file attachments in email and chat almost never do. If a photo is going somewhere public, strip it first.
